Looking Ahead: Trends
in Philanthropy and Fundraising
Roberta Healey, MBA, NHA, ACFRE
We can learn many lessons from the past… but
must resist the temptation to dwell in it! This session will
review trends and recent national findings in fundraising
techniques and organizational performance. In addition to
competition and regulation, among the emerging areas needing
our diligent attention are succession planning, brand
positioning, and ethics and transparency. The session will
frame a “call to action” for fundraising professionals
wishing to chart a strong path for career success by staying
ahead of the curve.

Just Ask
Una S. Martone, CFRE
Asking
isn’t just about major gifts and volunteers. The practice of
asking can and should be extended to just about anything
needed by non-profit organizations. Beyond the typical
in-kind donations, this session will review the who, what,
where, when and how to make the ask and get the yes!
Everyone in the development
office should be skilled in making “the ask.” Come together
and learn how much fun it can be to Just Ask!
How to Spot Planned Giving
Opportunities
Shirl Shaffer, M.A., CFRE Renny Magill

One, Two, Three… Balance

you! Realize your current life balance and use tips from

Being Good is Good for
Business
Joe Geiger
There are
hundreds of scandals chronicled across the United States on
a monthly basis. Even though charities are performing great
works, their accomplishments get tarnished when a member of
the community of charities behaves inappropriately and or
illegally. The enforcement agencies have made a commitment
to go after the bad guys. That includes the well-intended
that do not comply with the law. This session will go beyond
the expectations of the law to consider dos and don’ts on
how we work with donors.
Young Professionals
Seminar
Chad Barger, CFRE
Heather Morris-Davis
The seminar is designed for those with three years or less
experience in fundraising. Are you new to Fundraising? Do
you have questions and concerns you’d like to discuss with
others doing similar work? Here’s an opportunity to interact
with fellow professionals and share ideas, strategies,
successes and challenges. Join our co-facilitators and your
peers for a lively and informative discussion of issues
common to those relatively new to this field. If attendees
would like to send comments prior to the session please
direct them to
